Modern Shakespeare Project

The Modern Shakespeare Project is a nonprofit ensemble-based theatre company dedicated to reaching as many new theatre audiences as possible through dynamic, actor-driven productions that focus on the direct relationship between performer and audience.

Each season continues an ongoing conversation between Shakespeare and a diverse range of classical and contemporary playwrights. By approaching texts through the lens of young American adults, we seek to illuminate and provide a context for the contemporary American experience, giving full voice to a wide range of backgrounds and visions.

The Modern Shakespeare Project aims to benefit all participants: developing and combining the talents of the new guard of theatre artists through regular productions, building, honing, and nourishing a theatrical community, and, most important of all, engaging audience with exceptional, immediate storytelling.

By serving as an advocate for the theatre as an essential cultural force in leading and framing the dialogue of a community, we ultimately seek to galvanize, inspire, and heal all involved.
