The Alexander Technique

The Alexander Technique teaches you to gain awareness of & unlearn psychophysical habits that cause excess strain and dis-ease in your body.

Through one-on-one or group lessons, you’ll build conscious awareness of how you’re using yourself, and the ability to pause and make less rigid, more creative choices. You'll learn how to use your own body most efficiently, to avoid wear-and-tear on your joints and muscles. You’ll gain more awareness of anatomical mapping, a greater sense of ease and availability in moving, and methods of self-care. You’ll come to own a process that cultivates your presence, flexible thinking, adaptable action and a sense of possibility.

The AT may benefit you if you:

  • Suffer from chronic pain or are recovering from an injury

  • Desire better posture

  • Dance, sing, act, make music, create art, or teach

  • Seek refined technique & stamina

  • Want better stage presence or public speaking skills

  • Feel dissatisfied with performance in any area of your life.

The Alexander Technique stresses unification in an era of greater and greater medical specialization. It is an educational system that teaches people how to best use their bodies in ordinary action to avoid or reduce unnecessary stress and pain. It enables clients to get better faster and stay better longer. This is undoubtedly the best way to take care of the back and alleviate back pain.
