1:1 sessions - Somatic Experiencing®

When an overwhelming experience happens to you, your body may become “stuck” in survival mode. The usual ways of coping don’t work anymore, and you may need help to move out of the stuck place- back into presence and connection.

Trauma is a dysregulation of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) that affects the entire body-mind-self. It may lead to a range of physical and emotional symptoms, including but not limited to:

  • sleep disruption

  • chronic pain and/or tension

  • hyper-vigilance (feeling on “high-alert”)

  • Numbing out, dissociation, disinterest

  • inability to follow-through

  • difficulty settling / relaxing

  • Gastro Intestinal symptoms

  • repetitive relational dynamics

  • emotional dysregulation

  • and more…

By slowing down connecting in with your body, with accompaniment by a trained professional, your body is able to shift out of auto-pilot and into a more flexibility and connection. I’ll meet you where you are and assist you to listen to your body’s messages in order to promote the body's natural healing processes. By contacting the disruption in the ANS, tending and befriending the nervous system, we can get to the route of the problem, and shift the “autonomic foundation” upon which life is experienced.

I have experience & ongoing supervision working with people who have been traumatized by:

  • Intergenerational Trauma

  • Perinatal Trauma

  • PTSD

  • Performing Arts Trauma

  • Sexual Abuse

  • Surgical Trauma

  • Automobile Accidents

  • Chronic Pain

  • Concussions

  • Developmental Trauma

  • Grief & Loss

  • Injuries

  • Unavoidable or shocking big life transitions

Sometimes trauma-symptoms emerge long after the incident, triggered by similar-enough circumstances, sensations, or experiences. When you feel out of your element, and decide to reach out, we will work together at your own speed to resolve what’s stuck, and help you to

  • Feel powerful in your body again

  • Connect with your loved ones

  • Self-regulate and learn somatic tools for navigating anxiety, perfectionism and / or depression.

  • Grow your capacity for feeling the whole spectrum of the human experience with non-judgmental compassion.

Build a sustainable and empowered relationship with your body-mind-nervous-system the allows you to move through life’s challenges and triumphs with embodied resilience.

My approach to SE™ is deeply informed and in relationship to my experience teaching the Alexander Technique for nearly a decade. You can learn more about the Alexander Technique here.

*Somatic Experiencing® is not a replacement for psychotherapy, but it is an excellent supplement to it
...redefined the relationship I have with my body, and gave me tools to process my injury from a car accident and move forward. I feel like I’m in the driver’s seat of my body again.
